Feeling uneasy about the 'efficiency' initiatives

I’ve been with the company for a few years now, and the shift in tone during recent town halls has been pretty noticeable. It’s all about 'operational efficiency' and 'realigning resources' lately. We all know what those corporate buzzwords usually imply. I’m worried that after the holidays, we are going to see some restructuring. The hours are already getting cut for the seasonal staff much earlier than in previous years, and the full-timers are getting asked to do double the work with no extra support. I love the company culture, but it feels like the focus on the bottom line is starting to take priority over the 'Employee First' mentality that used to be the bedrock here. Is anyone else getting that sense of dread, or is this just standard retail volatility?
