New 'productivity metrics' in the warehouse support teams

Is anyone else getting hit with these new tracking requirements? My lead started pushing for granular time-logging on tasks that we never had to track before. It feels like they're trying to build a case for redundancy or just trying to squeeze more out of us before they decide who stays and who goes. The transparency is non-existent. We keep hearing about record membership numbers and growth, but the internal messaging is all about 'streamlining' and 'operational overhead.' I don't trust it. When they start focusing this hard on micro-metrics, it’s usually the precursor to a restructuring. I’ve been here for a few years and I’ve never seen the leadership team act this skittish. Just wondering if the rumors about a Q3 headcount reduction have any legs or if I'm just reading too much into the office chatter.

Same thing is happening at our location. It feels like they are just finding ways to justify a purge disguised as efficiency. We’ve been running lean for years, yet they keep pushing for these micro-logs that take more time to fill out than the actual work takes. It’s definitely about headcount reduction. Watch your back and make sure you’re documenting your own output because management clearly isn’t looking at the whole picture anymore.

I honestly think you’re overthinking the 'redundancy' part. Corporate has been pushing for better data-driven decisions across the board to stay competitive. It’s annoying, sure, but if you just keep your head down and track the tasks accurately, it actually ends up showing how much work we’re doing that they previously ignored. It’s just bureaucracy catching up to modern times. Don’t let the stress get to you; just do the logging and keep moving forward.
