Anyone else noticing the calendar freezes?

Is it just my department, or is everyone else seeing a total lockdown on new project approvals? My manager keeps talking about 'operational efficiency' and 'reallocating resources,' but every time I ask for budget clearance, I get hit with the standard 'hold on, let’s see where the Q3 numbers land.' It feels like we’re being prepped for something, but nobody is saying the word. I’ve noticed a lot of back-to-back meetings that my skip-level is attending, and they’ve been looking particularly stressed lately. Thinking about brushing off the resume just in case, but curious if anyone in the field or in the Houston office is hearing anything more concrete than just vague 'optimizations'. Feels like the calm before a storm.

Same here. The 'operational efficiency' talk is corporate speak for budget tightening that usually precedes a bad quarterly earnings report. Everyone in my group is feeling the same squeeze, and the constant closed-door meetings at the leadership level aren't helping the morale. It feels like we are all just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and the lack of transparency is making it impossible to plan any project timelines. Just keep your head down and document everything until they finally give us a straight answer about the Q3 targets.
