Performance review cycle feels... different this year.

Hey all, just wanted to see if I'm alone on this. Usually, by this time of year, there's a pretty clear understanding of where things are headed with performance reviews, potential raises, bonuses, etc. This year, it feels like everything is really murky. We've had all the talk about 'optimization' and 'efficiency,' which is fine, but it's translated into a lot of uncertainty at the team level. My manager is being cagey about timelines and what the review criteria will even *be*. Feels like everyone's just holding their breath. Anyone else experiencing this vibe? It's making it hard to plan or even feel motivated when the goalposts seem to be shifting constantly. Wondering if this is a company-wide thing or just my specific department feeling the heat.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same ambiguity. The 'optimization' buzzwords have been flying around, but it's created a real lack of clarity on how our contributions will actually be measured this cycle. It's tough to stay motivated when you're unsure about the criteria for performance and potential compensation adjustments. Hoping for some concrete information soon, but it feels like we're all just treading water right now.

Definitely not alone. The whole 'efficiency' push seems to have translated into a black box for performance reviews this year. My manager is giving me the same vague answers, and it's making it hard to set goals when the finish line keeps moving or its purpose is unclear. It’s a bit disheartening when you’ve been putting in the work and can’t get a straight answer about what it all means.
