Anyone else feeling the 'efficiency' squeeze lately?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at the office become noticeably toxic over the last month? Ever since the rumors started floating around regarding the Q3 targets, leadership has been obsessed with 'streamlining' everything. I’m seeing more internal job postings disappearing and travel budgets getting slashed to zero. My manager used to be pretty transparent about our roadmap, but now he just says 'we're evaluating priorities' whenever someone asks about the long-term outlook. It feels like we’re being prepped for something, but nobody will actually say the words. Are other departments seeing the same thing, or is it just the engineering side getting hit with this weird, quiet freezing period? I’m trying to decide if it’s time to polish the resume or if I’m just overthinking the typical end-of-quarter pressure.

It’s not just you. The vibe at the Moline offices has shifted dramatically since the last earnings call. Everyone is walking on eggshells because the focus has completely pivoted from innovation to aggressive margin protection. I’ve noticed the exact same thing with the internal postings; positions that were open last week just vanished without a trace. It feels like they are preparing for a massive restructuring and are just waiting for the right moment to announce it. The transparency is gone, and unfortunately, 'prioritizing' is just management-speak for impending layoffs. Keep your resume polished and stay sharp.

Honestly, the atmosphere has been suffocating for a while now. When leadership stops discussing the long-term vision and only talks about 'operational efficiency,' you know the hammer is about to drop. I’ve seen the travel budgets get gutted, and the general sentiment among the teams is pure anxiety. It is incredibly frustrating to be kept in the dark while they play these games with our roles and resources. It feels like the company culture is being sacrificed to appease the street, and it’s turning into a pretty miserable place to actually get any real work done.
