Anyone else hearing rumors about a hiring freeze at DB?

I’ve been hearing a lot of whispering in the hallways lately regarding the budget situation. It feels like every time I ask a manager about backfilling a role in our department, I get the 'we’re reviewing our strategic priorities' line. It’s starting to feel like we’re being primed for something, even if they aren’t calling it a restructuring yet. I’ve been with the company for a few years and the atmosphere definitely feels heavier than it did this time last year. Management keeps talking about efficiency and 'optimizing internal processes,' which we all know is often code for headcount reduction. Has anyone actually seen a formal memo or heard anything concrete from the works council? I’m trying to figure out if I’m just being paranoid or if the writing is truly on the wall. I’d love to know if people in other divisions like DB Cargo or Infrastruktur are seeing the same thing, or if this is just isolated to corporate. Honestly, the lack of transparency is starting to get to me more than the actual potential for job cuts. If anyone has intel, please share—even if it’s just 'everything is fine in my office'.

Same here. Our team has been down three people for months now and HR just keeps telling us to 'prioritize effectively.' It’s impossible to keep up with the maintenance schedules without proper staffing, but they act like everything is normal. The lack of transparency is honestly the most frustrating part. We all know the numbers don't add up, so just be honest about the hiring freeze instead of stringing us along with these vague corporate buzzwords while we drown in the workload.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. DB is notorious for these quiet budget crunches before a major announcement. They always try to normalize the status quo until it's too late to complain. If you look at how much they've scaled back on external projects lately, it’s clear the money is drying up. Don't wait for an official email to prepare yourself; start updating your CV now because if this is a hiring freeze, layoffs usually follow closely behind.
