Thoughts on the long-term future of the MD footprint?

With the latest round of cuts hitting Hunt Valley, I can't help but feel like the writing is on the wall for our presence in Maryland entirely. I’ve been with Diamondback for a few years now, and the shift in focus towards the core assets in the Permian has clearly been deprioritizing our satellite offices. It feels like we are being slowly phased out rather than just rightsized. Does anyone else get the impression that they’re just going to bleed the remaining departments dry over the next two years until it's just a skeleton crew? I’m looking at the landscape and wondering if I should wait for a potential package or just jump ship now before the market gets saturated with former Diamondback employees looking for the same remote or regional roles. The culture shift over the last six months has been pretty palpable, and honestly, the morale is at an all-time low. Interested to hear if anyone in leadership has dropped hints about further consolidation after April.

The shift toward the Permian is undeniable, and honestly, the Maryland office has been living on borrowed time for a while now. Management is laser-focused on efficiency and core production, which makes maintaining satellite locations an easy target for budget reallocation. It is frustrating to watch, but from a strategic standpoint, they are just consolidating resources where the margins are highest. Expect the downsizing to continue until there is barely a skeleton crew left.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. While the Hunt Valley cuts are definitely concerning, Diamondback still relies on the specialized expertise located there. Every company goes through these cycles of centralization, but that doesn't necessarily mean a total shutdown is imminent. It’s likely just a period of extreme austerity to improve the bottom line. Keep your head down and focus on your deliverables; speculation about a total exit is only going to make the current environment feel more stressful than it already is.
