Anyone else feeling the tension? (Layoff watch 2024)

I'm in Sales and the mood has been super weird lately. Q1 numbers weren't stellar, and I've heard whispers about "restructuring" from a few different sources. My gut is telling me something's coming. Has anyone else noticed anything off? Are certain departments more at risk than others? I've been here almost 5 years and seen a couple of smaller rounds, but this feels different. Maybe it's just paranoia, but I'm definitely updating my resume just in case.

Yeah, I'm in Engineering and feeling the same vibes. The company's been pushing hard on efficiency metrics, which usually precedes headcount reductions. Plus, the constant 'town halls' where they reiterate how great everything is going always strike me as damage control. Keep your head down, deliver on your immediate tasks, and definitely polish that resume. Better safe than sorry in this environment. I've been through this drill before at other companies, and the signs are eerily similar.

Honestly, this happens every year around Q1. Sales always feels the pressure, and 'restructuring' is just corporate jargon for re-evaluating priorities. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Focus on closing deals and exceeding your targets, and you'll be fine. Five years at a company is a good run, and it makes you a valuable asset. Don't let rumors distract you from doing your job well. Besides, the stock's not tanking; if anything, it's trending up slightly.
