Is anyone else seeing a hiring freeze alongside the 'no layoffs' talk?

Been at DocuSign for about 4 years now, working in the Product Marketing team. We haven't heard anything official, and leadership keeps saying things are stable, but I've noticed a significant slowdown in backfills and even new headcount requests being approved. My team lead mentioned our budget for Q4 is extremely tight and we're pushing pause on almost all new initiatives. Anyone else in Engineering or Sales seeing the same thing? It feels like the quiet before the storm, and the 'no layoffs' message is starting to ring hollow. Just trying to get a pulse check from others across different departments.

I'm in Engineering and definitely seeing a slowdown. While there haven't been official announcements about hiring freezes, the process for getting new roles approved has become incredibly lengthy and has stalled out for several positions we were hoping to fill this quarter. My manager hinted at budget constraints for the rest of the year, so it sounds like you're not alone in noticing this. It's tough when the public messaging doesn't quite match the internal reality.

Sounds like a classic case of 'managing expectations' from leadership. In Sales, we're feeling the pressure too. While no one's packing their bags, the focus has shifted heavily towards retaining existing business rather than aggressive new client acquisition, which indirectly impacts headcount needs. My advice? Keep your head down, focus on your current responsibilities, and build a strong case for why your role is critical if the 'storm' does hit. Document everything.
