What's the severance like here if the worst happens?

Okay, trying not to be paranoid, but the whispers and the general market sentiment are hard to ignore. I've been with DocuSign for a solid 6 years in a senior technical role. If, hypothetically, layoffs *did* hit, what's the typical severance package like? I've heard horror stories from other tech companies where it's barely a few weeks. Does anyone have any intel or experience from previous rounds (if there were any substantial ones)? Thinking about things like notice period, continued benefits, outplacement services, etc. It's a big unknown and something I think we should all be aware of, just in case.

Hey, totally understand the concern, especially with the current climate. Six years is a significant chunk of time, and it's smart to be prepared. From what I've seen/heard in past tech cycles, severance packages can really vary. Some companies do offer a few weeks per year of service, plus extended health benefits, while others are more minimal. Hopefully, there's a clear policy documented somewhere that you can access, or maybe HR has shared something in the past. Wishing you the best that it doesn't come to that, though!

Honestly, without official word or someone directly impacted by a previous layoff sharing specifics, it's all just speculation. I wouldn't put too much stock in 'whispers.' Companies often have a standard severance policy, but it's rarely publicized widely beforehand. Your best bet might be to discreetly ask your manager about general company policies on employee offboarding, framing it as general curiosity about benefits and policies. Focus on updating your resume and networking just in case, regardless of what you hear.
