Middle management getting gutted in the latest round?

Is anyone else noticing the complete silence from leadership regarding the May 24th WARN notice? It feels like we’re back to the same old playbook: send out a generic memo about 'streamlining' while the regional teams are getting absolutely gutted behind the scenes. I’ve spoken to a few people who were caught in the crossfire, and the general consensus is that nobody saw it coming, despite the quarterly numbers being what they were. It’s exhausting watching the same pattern repeat every few months. At this point, the 'efficient operations' excuse is just corporate speak for 'we’re trimming the fat to appease shareholders because the actual business model is cracking.' If you’re still in corporate and feeling safe, I’d suggest taking a long, hard look at your department’s headcount. I didn’t think I’d be sweating my seat this time last year, but here we are. It’s becoming impossible to focus on actual projects when you’re constantly wondering if you’re next on the spreadsheet.

It is honestly pathetic how they keep using 'streamlining' as a buzzword for firing competent people while the stores continue to fall apart. Anyone who has been here for more than a year knows the drill: they cut the regional support staff, the workload shifts entirely onto the store managers without any extra pay, and then they act surprised when sales eventually dip. It is a toxic cycle, and the lack of transparency from corporate is just proof that they view us as disposable line items rather than actual human beings. I feel for those who got the axe this week.

Stop expecting honesty from leadership at this point. They aren't going to address the WARN notice because that would require admitting they have no real strategy beyond panic-cutting overhead to pad the bottom line for investors. The culture has shifted from 'serving the customer' to 'hiding the damage,' and it’s clearly failing. I stopped asking questions months ago because the answers are always scripted lies. Just keep your head down, update your resume, and look for an exit strategy before the next round of 'streamlining' reaches your department.
