Layoff Report

Are we heading toward another round of corporate 'rightsizing'?

Seeing a lot of unusual activity on the internal slack channels—mostly people asking about remote policy enforcement and performance tracking. It feels like the company is looking for any excuse to trim the fat without calling it a layoff. A few colleagues in my department have mentioned their managers are suddenly hyper-focused on 'efficiency metrics' that didn't matter six months ago. It feels like they're building a paper trail to justify cutting people in the new year. I know we aren't officially in a layoff cycle, but the anxiety is palpable. If you’re in a support role at Ann Arbor, have you had those 'check-in' meetings with leadership yet? Would love to know if this is department-specific or if there’s a broader mandate to squeeze costs.

I’ve been watching the same patterns at Domino’s corporate lately. The sudden obsession with granular metrics is a classic tell. When managers start obsessing over activity logs and time-tracking instead of actual output, it's almost always a sign that HR is preparing a headcount reduction. If they’re tightening the screws on remote work policies now, they’re definitely clearing the path to let people go without paying severance or just to meet some arbitrary efficiency quota. Keep your files updated and start quietly looking elsewhere; the writing is on the wall.
