Domino's Operations - Seeing some weird shifts in scheduling lately

Hey everyone, Been with Domino's for a few years now, mostly in store management. Lately, I've noticed a trend that feels a bit off, and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing something similar. We've been cutting down on opening/closing shifts, and some mid-day coverage feels really thin. It's not just me cutting back hours to save labor costs either; it feels like a directive from higher up to operate leaner. We're pushing delivery drivers to do more, and sometimes asking cooks to jump on the register during rushes. It's making things stressful and impacting service speed, which is the last thing we need in this competitive market. I haven't heard any concrete layoff rumors specific to stores, but this kind of optimization always makes me a little nervous. Is this just a seasonal thing, or is anyone else feeling the squeeze and wondering what's behind it?

Could be a test run for a new operational model they're considering rolling out nationally. Some of the larger chains do this to gather data before committing to big changes. Might be worth asking your district manager if there's any new strategy being implemented. Might also be a sign they're looking to automate more tasks or rely more on third-party delivery apps, which could explain the driver push and potential cook cuts.
