Anyone else seeing weird hiring freezes at DoorDash?

Hey everyone, been working at DD for a couple of years now, and lately things feel... off. Usually, we're always looking to expand teams, but for the past month or so, it feels like approvals for new headcount have just stopped. My manager hinted that budgets are being reviewed really closely, and it's not just our team. Anyone else in different departments noticing this? Feels like a precursor to something bigger, and with the market being so shaky, it's hard not to worry. Just trying to gauge if this is a company-wide thing or if I'm just in a weird pocket. Anyone heard anything concrete, or is it just that general economic anxiety everyone's feeling?

Yeah, I've heard similar whispers from folks in operations. It's definitely a shift from the usual growth-focused approach. My gut tells me it's not isolated to a few departments. The way they're scrutinizing every dollar lately is pretty noticeable. Hoping it's just a temporary belt-tightening and not a sign of bigger issues down the line. It's unnerving for sure, especially with the economic climate.

That's interesting you bring that up. I'm on the engineering side, and while we haven't had an explicit 'freeze,' the pace of approvals for new projects and hiring has definitely slowed to a crawl. It feels like everything needs multiple layers of sign-off now, which wasn't the case even six months ago. It makes you wonder what strategic shifts are happening behind the scenes.
