Feeling the burnout after the recent cuts

Honestly, at this point, I’m just waiting for the invite to a 'check-in' meeting that ends with my access being revoked. Seeing the news about the 100 employees in PA just solidifies the anxiety we’ve all been feeling. You look around the office—or at the slack channels—and everyone is just quiet. It’s like we’re all walking on eggshells. I’m tired of hearing about 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining' when the workload for those of us left behind just doubles. It feels like we’re being asked to do the work of two people for the same pay, all while knowing that the moment we slip up, we’re next on the chopping block. It’s impossible to focus on long-term projects when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder. Is anyone actually enjoying their role right now, or are we all just biding our time until we find something more stable? I’ve started applying to other companies, but the market feels just as frozen as our internal growth. If you’re still here, take care of yourselves and don’t make this job your entire identity. It’s clear they don’t value the human element as much as they say they do in those emails from leadership.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. The uncertainty is arguably worse than the actual layoff. When leadership hides behind buzzwords like 'operational efficiency' while the people left behind drown in double the workload, it’s a clear sign that they aren't valuing the actual humans anymore. Please try to detach emotionally as much as you can. Update your resume tonight, not for the sake of leaving immediately, but just to remind yourself that you are a marketable professional outside of that specific building. Take care of your mental health first.

Look, it’s time to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop and start protecting yourself. If you’re already burning out and the environment feels this toxic, start doing the bare minimum required to keep your paycheck flowing while you focus entirely on your exit strategy. Don't fall into the trap of over-delivering to prove your worth to a company that has already shown you how replaceable they think you are. You’ve been given a head start—use it to get out before they force you out. You owe them nothing.
