Honestly, if layoffs were to happen, I wouldn't be surprised if marketing and some customer support roles saw cuts. Companies often tighten spending on those fronts first when looking to streamline. Engineering might feel it too, but often the focus shifts to efficiency and core functions rather than wholesale elimination. It's tough to guess specifics without knowing their exact financial situation, but it usually comes down to where the immediate cost savings or efficiency gains can be realized.
From my perspective, it seems like any department not directly tied to fulfilling orders or the core tech that makes that happen could be vulnerable. Think about back-office functions, HR, or even some project management roles if they aren't seen as absolutely essential to the day-to-day operations. The emphasis on automation suggests they're looking to replace human touchpoints where possible, so anything that feels like it could be 'automated' or 'streamlined' might be on the chopping block.
