Feeling the pressure after the 'efficiency' memo

Did anyone else get that email about 'streamlining core operations' this morning? Every time the word 'streamlining' gets dropped from corporate, my inbox fills up with anxiety. I’ve been with Dow for nearly a decade and we’ve been through these cycles before, but the tone feels different this time. There’s a weird vibe in the office where people are suddenly being extra quiet during lunch and no one is actually talking about their projects anymore. It feels like we are all just waiting for the calendar invite that says 'Briefing' with no agenda. I’m already dusting off the resume tonight. I’d rather be prepared for a potential pivot than be blindsided by a locked laptop on a Tuesday morning. Has anyone heard anything specific from the higher-ups in Houston, or are we all just guessing at this point?

I've been tracking these cycles for years, and you’re right, the atmosphere is noticeably heavier this time around. That memo is classic corporate speak, but the lack of transparency is what really breeds the anxiety. When people stop talking shop over lunch, it’s usually because they’ve already moved into survival mode. Keep your head down, refresh your resume quietly, and don't take it personally. It’s always a numbers game for them, never about the years of loyalty or actual work put in.

That email was honestly brutal. My department is already running on a skeleton crew, so hearing about 'streamlining' feels like a cruel joke. I spent the afternoon checking the internal portals for any leaked details, but it’s just total silence from leadership, which makes it ten times worse. If you’re feeling that shift in the office culture, trust your gut. It’s time to start networking outside the company immediately before the layoffs actually begin. Don't wait for the official hammer to drop.
