Heard whispers in eng, anyone else?

Been hearing some rumblings about restructuring, particularly in the engineering org. My skip-level was acting super weird in our 1:1 last week, unusually vague and non-committal about future projects. Anyone else picking up on anything similar? I'm in core product eng, been here 4 years and seen this movie before. Hoping I'm just being paranoid but my gut is telling me something's up. Is anyone else's team going through 'resource planning' exercises right now? That's usually a bad sign...

Yeah, I'm getting a similar vibe. Not in core product, but adjacent team. Lots of talk about 'efficiencies' and 'streamlining.' We just had a surprise team meeting about 'prioritization' and everyone was asked to list their 'key contributions' of the last quarter. Definitely feels like they're building a case for potential cuts. Brush up your resume, just in case. It's always better to be prepared, even if it's nothing.

Honestly, people are always whispering about restructures. Dropbox has been through a few already in the last 5 years. Maybe your skip-level was just having a bad day or has something personal going on. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet based on one weird 1:1. Wait and see if there's actually concrete evidence before you start panicking. Remember that time everyone thought we were getting acquired by Atlassian? Nothing happened.
