The vibe in the office after the 174 announcement

Another day, another round of emails announcing departures. For those of us still here, the atmosphere is pretty much what you’d expect: total silence in the Slack channels and everyone just counting down the minutes until their next 1:1. It’s hard to stay focused on shipping features when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your department is next on the chopping block. The management talk about 'streamlining for the future' doesn't really land when your teammates are locked out of their accounts mid-morning. I’ve been here long enough to see the headcount dwindle year after year, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that the 'growth' narrative just doesn't apply to us anymore. It’s definitely time to dust off the resume and start seeing what else is out there, because hanging on to a sinking ship feels like a losing game at this point.

It is honestly soul-crushing. I spent most of the morning staring at a blank terminal, unable to focus because the silence in the team channels is so deafening. It feels like we are just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Leadership keeps feeding us these vague corporate platitudes about efficiency, but it does nothing to mask the anxiety of seeing empty desks and inactive accounts. I’m just trying to keep my head down and get through the week, but it feels impossible to actually care about the product roadmap right now.

I have been here for years, and the shift in morale is unprecedented. It is not just about the layoffs; it is the complete lack of transparency that is killing the spirit of this company. Every single ping notification now triggers a spike in adrenaline, and I find myself compulsively checking the org chart to see who else has vanished. At this point, the 'streamlining' strategy has basically gutted our team culture. I am already updating my resume because it is clear that loyalty here is a one-way street.
