Eastman Chemical - Anyone else feeling the chill?

Hey everyone, been at Eastman for a few years now in R&D. Lately, the vibe has been... off. Lots of whispers in the hallways, fewer new projects starting up, and some internal reorgs that feel more like pruning than growth. Management's been pretty tight-lipped, just vague talk about 'optimizing operations' and 'navigating market uncertainties'. It's making me anxious. Anyone else in a similar boat or hearing the same things? Not seeing any official layoff news, but the feeling is definitely there. Just want to know if I'm overthinking it or if others are picking up on the same signals.

I've been with Eastman for a while now and I'm feeling the same unease. The 'optimizing operations' language definitely rings a bell. It feels like a lot of departments are being squeezed, and there's a noticeable slowdown in bringing new initiatives to fruition. The lack of transparency from leadership is creating a lot of speculation, which doesn't help morale. Hoping this is just a temporary phase and not a sign of deeper issues, but it's hard not to worry when the atmosphere shifts this noticeably.

It’s not just R&D, the sentiment seems to be spreading across the company. The 'market uncertainties' excuse feels a bit thin when you see other chemical companies continuing to invest and expand. I’ve heard similar murmurs about reorgs and a general tightening of budgets. It’s frustrating to be in the dark and feel like things are being decided behind closed doors. Management needs to be more upfront about the company's direction, or at least offer some reassurance.
