Eastman Chemical - Navigating the internal transfer process?

Hey everyone, I'm looking at potentially moving to a different department within Eastman and wanted to see if anyone has recent experience with the internal transfer process. I've heard it can be a bit of a black box sometimes. Is it generally straightforward, or are there a lot of hurdles to jump through? Do managers typically support internal moves, or is it more of an uphill battle? Any tips on how to make the process smoother would be greatly appreciated. Trying to get a lay of the land before I fully commit to exploring this option. Thanks in advance for any insights!

I went through an internal transfer a couple of years ago. My experience was pretty positive. My current manager was very supportive and even helped me prep for the interviews. The key was having a clear understanding of why I wanted to move and how my skills would benefit the new team. Make sure your resume is updated and highlight accomplishments that align with the role you're targeting. Definitely reach out to people in the department you're interested in to learn more about their work.

It really can depend on the departments involved and your current manager's attitude. Some managers see internal transfers as a win-win, helping retain talent and fill critical roles. Others might view it as losing a valuable team member, which can create friction. Be prepared to present a strong case for yourself, demonstrating both your qualifications and your commitment to Eastman. Networking within the target department beforehand can also make a big difference.
