Is Eastman becoming a revolving door?

I’ve been with the company for a few years now, and the atmosphere has shifted drastically. It feels like every month there’s a new announcement about 'restructuring' or some site-specific layoff. The 11 folks let go in Belmont last week just confirms that nobody is safe if the numbers don't perfectly align with the executive slide decks. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your department is next on the chopping block. Management loves to preach about being a 'world-class employer,' but they treat people like disposable line items on a balance sheet. I’m genuinely curious if anyone else is planning their exit strategy right now. I love the technical work, but the constant anxiety is draining. Is anyone actually feeling secure in their role at Eastman right now, or are we all just waiting for the next round of bad news?

It is honestly exhausting. I’ve seen so many talented people pushed out over the last year that it feels like the institutional knowledge is just bleeding away. Leadership keeps talking about 'strategic alignment' and 'efficiency,' but all I see are empty desks and burnt-out survivors. The culture has shifted from being a stable place to build a career into a high-anxiety environment where everyone is just updating their resume. At this point, it is not a matter of if, but when.

I have to play devil's advocate here. Every major industrial player is dealing with massive market headwinds right now, and Eastman is simply responding to a volatile global economy. Restructuring is painful, yes, but it is necessary to keep the company competitive in the long run. I still think there is a solid future here for those who can adapt to the new pace and focus on the core business goals. It is a tough market for everyone, not just us.
