I'm in sales with Ecolab, and yeah, I'm feeling it too, though maybe from a different angle. We're hearing a lot more about 'streamlining the customer experience' which translates to more administrative work and fewer resources for field support. The talk about 'efficiency' is definitely louder than usual, and it's making me nervous about commission structures and potential territory changes. Hopefully, it's just standard corporate shuffling, but your R&D observations are concerning.
Water treatment, huh? I worked in a similar division at a competitor a few years back, and we went through a similar 'optimization' phase. It usually meant a slow bleed of projects and a freeze on new hires, followed by some restructuring. The 'extended leave' thing is a classic sign. My advice? Start dusting off that resume and networking. Even if it blows over, it's always good to be prepared. Don't panic, but be proactive.
