Okay, full disclosure, I haven't heard anything concrete about layoffs at Ecolab, and I'm really hoping it's just paranoia or general industry jitters. I'm in a sales support role, been here for about 7 years, and honestly, I love my team and the work. BUT, I've seen some chatter online and heard whispers about restructuring in some business units. It's got me thinking, if the worst were to happen, what kind of severance packages does Ecolab typically offer? Does anyone have any experience or know someone who has gone through this here? I know it varies wildly, but any info on typical weeks per year of service, COBRA support, outplacement services, etc., would be super helpful to ease my mind or at least prepare me mentally. Just trying to be proactive, I guess.

Hang in there! It's completely understandable to feel anxious with online chatter and whispers, even if nothing is confirmed. Seven years is a significant tenure, and losing a role you enjoy would be tough. Try to focus on your great work and your team for now. If anything concrete emerges, you can cross that bridge then. Maybe connect with colleagues you trust discreetly to gauge the general sentiment, but avoid falling down the rabbit hole of speculation.

I've been through layoffs before, and the best advice I ever got was to update my resume and LinkedIn profile *now*, regardless of whether anything is happening. It takes way longer than you think, and having it ready gives you peace of mind. Regarding severance, it really can vary wildly depending on your role, tenure, and the company's situation at the time. Don't bank on any specific package, but prepare yourself mentally and professionally just in case.
