Feeling the pressure: is it time to jump ship?

I’ve been at Edwards for a few years, but after the recent announcement, I’m seriously questioning the trajectory here. It feels like the company is pivoting hard toward aggressive cost-cutting, and the 'patient-first' rhetoric doesn't align with how they’re treating the staff. I’m currently seeing a ton of internal friction between departments, and with nearly 300 people gone, the workload is being dumped on the survivors without any adjustment to our goals. I’ve started putting out feelers with recruiters in the MedTech space, but I’m curious if anyone else is seeing the writing on the wall. Are we looking at a restructuring phase, or is the company prepping for something bigger that’s going to leave us even more exposed? I want to stay, but the uncertainty is making it impossible to focus on my projects.

I felt that same shift about a year ago. It’s tough when the corporate messaging stops matching the daily reality of the office. Once the 'patient-first' line starts sounding like a hollow justification for burn-out, it’s usually a sign that the culture has fundamentally changed. Don't feel guilty for looking elsewhere; your health and sanity are more important than keeping a bloated company afloat while they trim the headcount around you. Update that resume and get out before the next round of cuts hits.

Look, it's just business. Every medical device giant goes through these cycles of aggressive expansion followed by brutal restructuring to appease shareholders. It sucks to be on the receiving end of the fallout, but if you look at the industry landscape, Edwards is still a strong name to have on your CV. Instead of jumping ship in a panic, maybe use this transition to leverage your experience for a better title or salary bump elsewhere. The current friction is just a symptom of the new operational focus, so don't take it personally.
