Performance review season feels extra tense this year. Anyone else?

It's that time of year again – performance reviews. Normally, I can deal with the annual ritual, but this year feels different. There's a noticeable undercurrent of anxiety across the teams. People are being extra cautious, conversations are more guarded, and there's a definite 'wait and see' attitude. Given some of the broader market trends and whispers about potential belt-tightening in medtech, I can't help but wonder if this year's reviews are a precursor to something else. Are managers being told to be more critical? Are ratings being managed more closely? Just trying to get a feel for the vibe. Anyone else in a similar boat with their teams or departments at Edwards? Hoping it's just my imagination, but the tension is palpable.

I'm feeling it too, definitely. The vibe is off. Usually, there's some constructive feedback, maybe a bit of constructive grumbling, but this year it's like walking on eggshells. The pressure to 'exceed expectations' feels dialed up to eleven, and the rationale behind it is being questioned more openly than I've ever seen. Trying to stay focused on my own work, but it's hard to ignore the palpable tension.

Yeah, it's more than just the usual review stress. It feels like there's a shift happening internally. Lots of talk about 'strategic alignment' and 'prioritization,' which usually means something's about to change, and not always for the better. Hoping for the best but preparing for potential adjustments. Let's just say my resume is getting a light dusting off, just in case.
