Another Round of EA Layoffs - What's the Real Story?

Just saw the news about another round of layoffs at EA. Mashable confirmed it, around [Number] people gone as of June 23rd. It's the third year in a row we're seeing significant cuts. I remember last year when they axed that Star Wars game and cut over 650 jobs, and the year before that, another big chunk. It's starting to feel less like 'strategic realignments' and more like a pattern. The official statements always sound so corporate and detached. 'Optimizing for the future,' 'focusing on core experiences.' What does that translate to on the ground? People losing their livelihoods. Does anyone have a clearer picture of what's driving this cycle? Is it project cancellations, restructuring, or something else entirely? It's hard to feel secure when this keeps happening.

It's truly disheartening to see this happening again. The constant cycle of layoffs, regardless of the official reasoning, must be incredibly stressful for the employees. You have to wonder about the long-term impact on morale and creativity within the company when this becomes a regular occurrence. Hopefully, those affected land on their feet quickly in new roles.

The 'strategic realignment' talk always rings hollow when it's followed by significant job cuts year after year. It feels like a convenient way to manage quarterly earnings without addressing underlying issues. The employees are the ones who pay the price for these decisions, and it's a shame to see talented people let go repeatedly.
