Anyone else feel like they're constantly bracing for the axe?

I swear, every time I open my email, I have a mini heart attack. I've been at EA for almost 8 years now, started as a junior artist and worked my way up to senior. Seen a lot of changes, a lot of good people come and go. But the last year or so has been different, just feels... unstable. Anyone else feeling this way? Like we're all just waiting for the other shoe to drop? It's hard to focus on my work when I'm constantly worried about whether I'll have a job next week. I'm not even sure what I'd do if I got laid off. This industry is brutal.

Totally get it. Been there, done that (at another studio, thankfully). That constant low-grade anxiety is a creativity killer. Start polishing up your resume and portfolio, just in case. Network like crazy. Doesn't mean you're jumping ship, just being prepared. Knowledge is power, and having options, even if you don't use them, can ease the stress a bit. Good luck, hang in there!

Honestly, it's always like that in the gaming industry, isn't it? Big projects wrap up, things get quiet, rumors start flying. Eight years is a good run, though. Maybe it's time to seriously evaluate if EA is where you see yourself long-term. Senior artist is a solid title; you could probably land something comparable elsewhere, maybe even with better stability. Don't let the fear paralyze you into staying somewhere you're unhappy.
