I am so sorry to hear this. I’ve been through a similar layoff at EA years ago, and the 'realignment' rhetoric is always the same corporate script meant to save face while cutting costs. Please prioritize your well-being right now. Focus on downloading your performance reviews, project contributions, and any contact information for colleagues you want to stay in touch with before they lock you out of the system. Don't worry about the projects or the company anymore; they’ve clearly shown that they aren't looking out for you. Take a breath, update your resume, and know that you will find something better.
Honestly, are we even surprised at this point? Every single fiscal quarter feels like a repeat of the same cycle: massive layoffs under the guise of 'streamlining' while executive bonuses remain completely untouched. It is a toxic way to run a studio, and it kills any shred of morale left in the teams. To those who were let go today, my heart goes out to you. This industry has a way of chewing people up, but your talent is still yours. Don't let this place define your worth. Collect your severance, take some time for yourself, and move on to a company that actually respects human beings.
