Just got the email notification about the latest 'restructuring' plan. It’s hard to keep count at this point—is this the fourth or fifth major purge in as many years? The messaging in the all-hands was as tone-deaf as usual, talking about 'optimizing our portfolio' while people who have been here for a decade are being walked out. My team just lost three leads and two senior devs, basically gutting our current project’s timeline. If you haven’t received a calendar invite for a '1:1 with HR' yet, you might be safe for now, but the anxiety in the Slack channels is palpable. Honestly, I’m just waiting for the severance package details at this point. Hard to focus on any deliverables when you're constantly looking over your shoulder. Anyone else feeling like they’re just checking boxes until the next inevitable email from leadership drops?

It is honestly exhausting watching this cycle repeat year after year. Every time they talk about 'optimizing the portfolio,' it is just corporate code for burning through talent to make the quarterly numbers look slightly better for shareholders. Losing senior leads and developers on an active project is not just a tragedy for those individuals; it is corporate sabotage against your own roadmap. At this point, it feels like the company is cannibalizing itself from the inside out just to satisfy a stock price that never stays high for long anyway. Take care of yourself and get your portfolio updated immediately.

I have been tracking these 'restructuring' cycles for a while now and the pattern is sickeningly predictable. They treat the actual developers like disposable inventory while the C-suite pats themselves on the back for 'fiscal responsibility.' It is a shame because there is so much potential in the teams they are gutting, but the culture has become entirely focused on short-term gains at the expense of long-term stability. Honestly, if you are still there and have not gotten the dreaded invite yet, consider it a sign to start looking elsewhere. The loyalty clearly does not go both ways here.
