I feel you, man. The AAA game dev cycle is brutal. I had a similar experience at Activision back in the day. Promised the world, delivered nothing but overtime and stress. My advice? Prioritize your health. No game is worth sacrificing your well-being. Keep looking for a new job, and in the meantime, set some hard boundaries. Turn off your phone on weekends, take your vacation days. They can replace you, but your health is irreplaceable.
Three years on Apex? That's rough. I've heard whispers about the crunch there. While I sympathize, and burnout is a real thing, game development *is* demanding. Every company has its issues. Maybe re-evaluate your expectations? Are you *sure* it's worse than anywhere else? Sometimes a change of perspective can make a big difference before jumping ship into this current market, just my two cents.
