Severance Package Question - CA Based Employees

For those of you who've been through layoffs at EA in California, what was the standard severance package like? I'm trying to mentally prepare in case the worst happens. I've heard different things from different people - some say it's weeks per year of service, others say it's a standard package regardless of tenure. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Heard it's usually a few weeks per year of service, plus accrued vacation payout. Definitely brush up on your resume and start networking now. Better to be proactive and have feelers out there just in case. Also, check your employee handbook; it might have some info on severance policies. Good luck, hope you don't need it!

Don't count on anything generous. They'll lowball you if they can. My friend got the bare minimum when they were laid off after five years – just the legally required amount, plus maybe an extra week or two. Document everything, and be prepared to negotiate. Consult with an employment lawyer if you think you're not being offered what you're entitled to under California law.
