I've been hearing the exact same thing on my floor. It feels like they are quietly phasing out the temp workforce to avoid the PR hit of a formal layoff announcement. My manager has been giving me the runaround for weeks regarding my conversion status, and it’s honestly exhausting. If they aren't giving you a clear timeline by now, I’d seriously start looking for other opportunities. Don't wait for them to pull the rug out from under you, because based on the current atmosphere, loyalty to contractors isn't on the agenda.
That sounds like a nightmare, but honestly, it’s classic behavior here lately. Management is clearly trying to tighten the budget before the end of the year, and unfortunately, contractors are always the first casualties in those situations. I’d suggest updating your resume and reaching out to your recruiter immediately to see what they know on their end. It’s better to be proactive than to spend another month wondering if you’re going to have a badge that works on Monday. Good luck, hope you find something more stable.
