Lilly - Is R&D feeling the pinch?

Been in R&D at Lilly for a while. The buzz lately has been pretty quiet, which is unusual for us. Usually, there's always some new initiative or expansion happening. Now, it feels like a lot of focus is on existing pipelines and optimizing what we have. Heard some chatter about certain early-stage discovery programs being re-evaluated or even shelved. It's not official, of course, but the vibe is definitely one of caution and prioritization. Makes you wonder if the company is preparing for something, or just being extremely prudent with resources. Anyone else in R&D feel this shift? Are you seeing changes in project funding or headcount planning? Trying to get a sense of the broader picture beyond my own corner of the company. Any insights appreciated.

Interesting perspective. I've noticed similar shifts in industry news, with a general tightening of belts across Big Pharma when it comes to early-stage bets. It makes sense from a financial discipline standpoint, especially with the pressure to deliver on current blockbuster drugs. Hopefully, it's more about strategic reallocation than outright cuts that could stifle future innovation.

That's a worrying sign if true. R&D is the lifeblood of any pharma company, and if the early discovery engine is sputtering, it could have long-term consequences. I hope it's just a temporary phase of re-evaluation and not a sign of deeper financial pressures. Keeping fingers crossed that Lilly finds a way to reignite that spark.
