I was there for the last round of layoffs, and honestly, the severance details change constantly. Don’t trust anything verbal from management. Get every single promise, especially regarding unused PTO and health benefits, typed out and signed by HR before your last day. If they try to force you to sign a release of claims immediately, take it home and have someone look it over. They rely on the panic of the holidays to get people to sign away their rights, so stay smart and protect yourself before turning in your badge.
