Unexplained delays on project approvals

Has anyone else noticed that project approvals are stuck in purgatory lately? We have a couple of builds that were supposed to be greenlit weeks ago, but leadership is playing hot potato with the sign-offs. It’s impossible to get a straight answer out of anyone in leadership, and every time I check in, I get the standard 'we’re re-evaluating the capital allocation strategy.' That phrasing is setting off every alarm bell I have. Usually, this kind of bureaucratic gridlock is the precursor to a quiet layoff or a significant pivot in strategy. The silence from the top is deafening. If they were planning on hitting the expansion targets they laid out last year, we wouldn’t be stalling like this. Just looking to see if anyone else is seeing this across other regions or if my specific project cluster is just being deprioritized for some reason.

Same boat here. We’ve been hearing the exact same 'capital allocation strategy' script for months now. It feels like the entire approval process has been put into a holding pattern while they quietly pivot priorities. It’s frustrating because we’re losing momentum on critical infrastructure upgrades, and the lack of transparency is starting to impact team morale. If they are actually looking at budget cuts or shifting away from certain data center builds, it would be much better for them to just say it rather than leaving us chasing ghosts in middle management.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of a broader corporate tightening. When you start seeing this level of bureaucratic gridlock at a company like Equinix, it usually points to a top-down freeze on spending. I've been through these cycles before, and the vague messaging about 'strategic realignment' is almost always the signal that the budget is being clawed back. Just keep your documentation tight and don't count on those projects moving forward until at least the start of the new fiscal quarter. It’s a waiting game now.
