Ugh, yeah, I'm hearing similar rumblings across the pond. It's always the same buzzwords when things aren't going great, isn't it? 'Efficiency' is the one that always sets my teeth on edge. My department hasn't had any official announcements, but there's definitely a nervous energy. Try to keep your head down and focus on what you can control. Document your achievements – it might be useful later. Hang in there, hopefully it's just a temporary belt-tightening.
Honestly, I'm not so sure. We've had 'efficiency' talks before and nothing major came of it, just some shuffling of resources. Marketing is often the first place people *think* they see cutbacks because that's where the visible spending is. Product development and supply chain are usually much more core to the business. Unless there's a concrete sign of layoffs or major budget freezes, I'd take these 'whispers' with a grain of salt. Sometimes people just get antsy.
