This is concerning if true. Forced ranking systems can really demotivate a team. It often leads to unhealthy competition and can make people hesitant to collaborate or help others, fearing it might negatively impact their own standing. Hopefully, this is just unfounded rumor mill chatter. If it is being considered, I'd urge management to really think about the long-term impact on morale and retention.
Ugh, forced ranking. I've been through that at a previous company and it was awful. It felt like a game of musical chairs, where someone inevitably had to be the 'low performer' even if they were doing great work. It breeds resentment and can push good people out the door. Fingers crossed Exelon leadership sees the pitfalls of this approach and sticks to more constructive performance management.
