Hey everyone, saw the news about the layoffs on AOL.com and it hit closer to home than I expected. My whole team was dissolved yesterday, July 9th. Management called us in individually, said it was 'strategic realignment' and 'efficiency improvements'. Felt really cold and impersonal, to be honest. We're talking about 3000 people impacted, as some Hacker News posts were hinting at. Feels like a huge chunk of the company. Anyone else in affected departments? How are people feeling? Is there any clarity on what's next, like severance packages or outplacement services? Just trying to process this and figure out the next steps. So much uncertainty right now. Trying to stay positive but it's tough.

That's incredibly tough news. 'Strategic realignment' and 'efficiency improvements' sound like corporate speak for 'you're out'. Having your whole team dissolved like that must be a shock, especially when it's unexpected. 3000 people is a massive number; it's hard to grasp the scale of it. So sorry to hear this happened to your team. The impersonal way these things are handled is often the worst part. Individual calls after hints have been circulating – that's a raw deal.
