Just saw the article on AOL.com about Expedia letting go of a significant number of employees around July 9th. Apparently, it's around 3000 people based on what I'm seeing elsewhere. This is way more than I expected, especially after that Hacker News post mentioning 3000 as well. Feels like a gut punch. I'm still processing and wondering what this means for the rest of us. Anyone else in the same boat or heard any more specifics about departments or roles most affected? Trying to figure out the scope of this and what the actual strategy behind it is. Feels like the travel industry is still so volatile.

Yeah, I saw that headline too and it stopped me in my tracks. Seeing the number 3000 pop up from multiple sources, including Hacker News, makes it feel very real and not just a rumor. It's hard to fathom such a large reduction in workforce. I'm also curious about which areas are taking the biggest hit. Hoping for more clarity soon, but this is certainly a worrying development for many.
