The leadership seems completely detached from the reality of the engineering floor. It is impossible to maintain any semblance of technical debt management or long-term product vision when the team is being hollowed out every few months. At this point, we are just maintaining a sinking ship with duct tape and hope. The constant turnover is demoralizing and kills any productivity. If they think that cutting 58 people is going to somehow streamline operations, they are delusional. We are just bleeding talent while the remaining workload piles up higher than ever before.
I honestly stopped tracking the directory changes weeks ago because it just adds to the anxiety. It has become a toxic environment where everyone is just counting down the minutes until their own name appears on a layoff list. Leadership keeps talking about agility and modernization, but how are we supposed to build anything meaningful when the institutional knowledge is walking out the door in waves? It feels like they are selling off the company piece by piece. Don't bother focusing on the sprint goals; just focus on your own exit strategy before the next round of cuts hits.
