ExxonMobil - Is there a hiring freeze or are things just slow?

Hey everyone, just wanted to see if anyone else is feeling the chill at XOM. I've been keeping an eye on internal openings for a while now, and it feels like the faucet has been turned way down. It's not just my department either, I've chatted with a few folks in different divisions and they're saying the same thing. Makes you wonder if it's a strategic hiring freeze, or maybe just a general slowdown across the board. I haven't heard any official layoff news, and I'm trying not to panic, but the lack of movement is definitely noticeable. Is anyone else seeing this, or am I just overthinking it? Maybe it's just the usual end-of-year lull, but it feels different this time. Curious to hear what others are observing or hearing through the grapevine. Trying to stay positive, but the quiet is kinda deafening.

I've noticed a similar trend in my area. Recruiters seem less active, and the roles that do pop up are often re-posted multiple times. It definitely feels like a tighter hiring market than it was a year or two ago. While it's not official, the reduced activity across different departments suggests a more deliberate approach rather than just a temporary lull. Hopefully, it's a sign of strategic adjustments rather than something more concerning.

It's understandable to feel uneasy when hiring slows down. I haven't personally heard anything official about a freeze, but the reduced pace of new requisitions is definitely noticeable. It could be a combination of factors – maybe they're consolidating teams, focusing on specific projects, or just being more selective. Keep an eye on internal communications, and if possible, reach out to your manager or HR for more clarity on the current hiring strategy.
