Is FICO's internal culture effectively dead?

I’ve been here long enough to remember when this place felt like a stable, innovation-driven engineering shop. Now, it feels like we’re just another cog in a private equity-style optimization machine, even if we are public. The constant fear of the next round of cuts is making collaboration impossible. How are you all navigating the day-to-day when your manager doesn't even know if their own role is safe? I’m tired of the town hall 'everything is fine' speeches. We’re losing senior engineers who have institutional knowledge that can’t be replaced by a Jira ticket or a new hire. At this point, I’m just waiting for my RSU vest date before I start reaching out to my network. Has anyone successfully transitioned out to a different sector lately? The software stagnation here is starting to show on my CV, and I’m worried that staying until the next inevitable 'reorganization' is going to hurt my long-term career prospects.

The shift from an engineering-first culture to one obsessed with quarterly margins is unmistakable. We spend more time documenting our work for justification metrics than actually building anything meaningful. When leadership prioritizes stock buybacks over technical debt and team stability, the talent drain becomes inevitable. I’ve stopped looking for long-term growth here and started focusing exclusively on my exit strategy, because the current environment is clearly built for extraction rather than longevity. You aren't imagining the decline; the institutional knowledge is walking out the door every single week.
