It is standard corporate posturing at this point. They need to keep the narrative of 'hyper-growth' alive for the investors, even if the internal infrastructure is crumbling. When you see new job postings for teams that have been hit by budget freezes, it is not an accident—it is optics. They would rather look like a thriving machine that is scaling up than admit to stakeholders that the budget is being throttled. Don't take the headcount additions personally; it is all just theater for the stock price.
I have been watching the same thing and it is honestly exhausting. It feels like we are running on fumes while HR plays a game of pretend with these open job listings. Management is completely detached from the reality of the engineering org’s daily struggle for basic resources. If they put half the effort into fixing our existing cloud constraints that they put into 'optics management' and recruiting, we might actually be able to get some real work done. The disconnect is not just growing; it is becoming a massive liability.
