FedEx Layoffs - What's the Strategy?

Reading about the latest round of FedEx layoffs, especially the ones hitting Central New York recently. It seems like every major company is in cost-cutting mode. I'm curious about the broader strategy behind these moves. Are they trying to streamline operations, cut specific divisions, or is this a reaction to market conditions? With reports of management job cuts in the past, I wonder if these newer layoffs are targeting different areas. Anyone have insights into what FedEx is trying to achieve with these workforce reductions? Trying to understand if this is a targeted issue or a sign of bigger problems ahead for the company.

It's definitely concerning to see the ongoing layoffs at FedEx. My sense is it's a combination of factors. The shift to e-commerce has changed shipping patterns, and I suspect they're trying to align their workforce with current demand, perhaps investing more in automation and fewer in traditional sorting/delivery roles. The global economy's uncertainty likely plays a role too, pushing companies to trim overhead wherever possible. It’s tough for the employees caught in the middle of these strategic adjustments.
