Reading about the recent FedEx layoffs, especially the ones in Southern California, has me thinking. It's easy to get caught up in the fear and speculation, but I'm trying to stay focused on what I can control. Beyond the obvious of keeping your head down and doing good work, what are others doing? Are you dusting off the resume, networking more actively, or developing new skills? I've been thinking about cross-training in a different department, but not sure if that's the right move. Just want to hear how people are proactively managing their careers in this climate. It feels like everyone's on edge.

It's definitely a tense atmosphere when you hear about layoffs. My approach has been to double down on my current responsibilities, making sure my contributions are visible and valuable. I've also been making an effort to connect with colleagues across different teams, not just for job security reasons, but to build stronger working relationships. Understanding how other departments function could be a lifesaver if roles shift, and it's always good to have a broader network. I'm not actively updating my resume yet, but I'm keeping an eye on industry trends to ensure my skills remain relevant.

Heard about the FedEx news and it's unsettling. I'm not panicking, but I am being more proactive. My strategy involves sharpening my existing skills and seeking out opportunities to learn something new within my current role that might be transferable. Think of it as becoming indispensable. I'm also reaching out to former colleagues and contacts in other companies, just to keep those lines of communication open. It's not about actively looking for a new job right now, but more about having options and staying informed about the broader job market. Definitely considering some online courses too.
