Fifth Third - Is the Pearland site fully dark now?

Does anyone know if we are still seeing trickle-downs from the Pearland reduction? I know the WARN notice from late '22 said it was only a few people, but it feels like the regional footprint is getting quieter every month. I’m currently in the Midwest hub and it feels like management is playing it extremely close to the vest regarding any further office consolidations. It’s impossible to get a straight answer from HR—they just parrot the same 'operational efficiency' line whenever someone brings up the reduction in force. I’m wondering if anyone in the Texas market can confirm if the site is totally shuttered or if there are still remote/hybrid stragglers holding onto badges there. The uncertainty is making it hard to commit to the long haul here. Really feels like we are just waiting for the next quarterly results to see where the axe falls again.

The Pearland location has been completely shuttered for a while now. Management is definitely tight-lipped about the wider strategy, but the 'operational efficiency' jargon is usually code for further site consolidation. It's frustrating when they keep everyone in the dark, but expect more of the same quiet restructuring. They are likely trying to avoid a mass exodus or bad press until the lease expirations align with their budget goals for the next fiscal year. Watch your back.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for HR to give you a straight answer. The firm has been running this playbook across multiple regions, not just Texas, to keep morale from tanking while they quietly trim the footprint. The Midwest hubs are clearly next on the list for 'optimization' given how quiet leadership has been lately. It’s all about padding the bottom line at this point. Start updating your resume now, because these consolidation waves rarely stop until they hit their targets.
