Fifth Third - Mid-year compensation adjustments?

Has anyone heard a whisper about potential comp adjustments for the remainder of the year? With the way the market has been shifting and the recent tightening of the belt, I’m getting nervous that we’re going to see a complete freeze on salary bumps, even for those of us who met all our KPIs. I’ve had a few recruiters reach out lately, and honestly, the comp packages they’re dangling are starting to look way better than what we’re seeing internally. I want to stay, but if the budget is locked down for the next two quarters, it’s going to be hard to justify passing on a 15-20% jump elsewhere. Has anyone in HR or management dropped any hints about whether the bonus pools are still fully intact, or should I be polishing the resume for real this time?

Don't hold your breath waiting for internal adjustments. Management is currently hyper-focused on efficiency ratios and protecting margins, which usually means salary freezes for anyone not in a mission-critical role. If you have recruiters dangling better offers, you should at least start the interview process to see what your market value actually is. Loyalty rarely pays off as well as switching firms in this banking climate, especially when the internal budget feels this tight. Keep your options open and don't rely on empty promises from HR.
