Fifth Third - Performance reviews felt harsher this year?

Just finished my performance review cycle at Fifth Third and honestly, it felt way more intense and critical than in previous years. It wasn't just about meeting goals, but almost a nitpicking of every little thing. My manager was bringing up minor points from months ago that I thought were resolved. A few colleagues I've spoken with informally felt the same way – like the bar was suddenly much higher, and the feedback was less about development and more about justification. Given the current economic climate and some of the general unease I've seen around the company, it makes me wonder if this is a precursor to something. Is this just my experience, or has anyone else at Fifth Third felt a shift in how performance is being evaluated lately? Trying to understand if this is a company-wide push or just my specific leadership.

I've definitely noticed a shift too. It feels like there's more pressure to not only meet but exceed expectations, with less room for minor missteps. It's made the review process pretty stressful, and I'm wondering if it's a company-wide push or just specific departments. Makes you question the focus on employee growth when the feedback feels so punitive.

That's exactly how it felt for me. The focus seemed to shift from constructive feedback aimed at improvement to a more critical assessment of every single task. It's disheartening when you've been putting in the work and feel like it's not being recognized, but instead dissected. Hoping this is just a temporary phase.
