It is the same old script every quarter. They talk about efficiency and cost-cutting while executives pad their own pockets with massive bonuses. We are the ones actually keeping the grid running, yet we are treated like disposable line items on a spreadsheet. Every time a RIF hits, we lose the people who actually know how the legacy systems work, which just makes the next outage even harder to manage. The hypocrisy is deafening and it is clearly driving all the talent out the door.
Honestly, the constant anxiety is exhausting. You can feel the tension in every department because nobody knows who is next on the chopping block. Management loves to preach about long-term goals and operational excellence, but they clearly only care about the share price for the next earnings report. At this point, the best career move is just polishing the resume and getting out before the next round of 'optimization' targets your desk. Leadership has completely lost the room, if they even care to look.
